Herman Miller runs Black Friday promotions. What they don't do is deeply discount their flagship products. If you're waiting for a significant price cut on an Aeron before pulling the trigger, you'll probably be waiting past Black Friday too.

Here's what to realistically expect.

What Herman Miller actually does on Black Friday

Herman Miller is not a Black Friday-driven brand. Their pricing philosophy is built around stable MSRP and controlled distribution through authorized dealers. That means:

Official Herman Miller site: typically 15% off select items, with the Aeron often excluded entirely or discounted minimally (5 to 10%).

Authorized dealers (Design Within Reach, Knoll): occasional promotions that are separate from HM's own sale. Might be 10 to 20% off, might be zero.

Amazon: HM products appear on Amazon, but the listings are often third-party sellers. Discounts vary and warranty service from Amazon sellers is sometimes complicated. Check the "sold by" to confirm it's an authorized seller before purchasing.

The largest BF discounts on Herman Miller products tend to be on the Sayl and Cosm, not the Aeron or Embody. The Aeron's pricing is treated with particular care because it's HM's reputation anchor product.

The Aeron on Black Friday

The Aeron (size B, basic configuration) is around $1,395 at list price. A 10% BF discount saves you $140. That's real, but it doesn't transform the Aeron into a different value proposition.

Check current Aeron price on Amazon

If budget is why you haven't bought an Aeron, a 10% BF discount won't change that calculation.

If you were planning to buy one anyway and the timing aligns, buy during BF. Otherwise, don't stress the timing.

What actually changes the Aeron's value proposition is the certified refurbished market. A refurbished Aeron in B condition (the standard adult size) from Crandall Office or similar certified refurbisher runs $700 to $900 depending on condition. That's a $500 to $700 reduction from new pricing, with a legitimate 2-year warranty. Black Friday sometimes brings light additional discounts from these sellers, but the refurbished market is the real deal, not the BF calendar.

Herman Miller Sayl: the exception

The Sayl is the one HM chair where BF discounts are somewhat more consistent. Standard pricing around $600 to $700. BF typically brings 15 to 20% off, landing at $480 to $560.

The Sayl is a design-forward chair with decent lumbar and a distinctive back design. It's not a task-focused ergonomic chair in the way the Aeron is. But if aesthetics and brand matter and you're looking at the sub-$600 range, a Sayl at BF pricing is worth considering.

The Cosm also occasionally discounts similarly to the Sayl during BF.

Alternatives that are better BF buys

If you're looking at Herman Miller chairs on Black Friday, it's worth asking whether the timing makes the brand comparison different.

Steelcase Leap V2 at $1,400 to $1,600 new is rarely discounted meaningfully on BF either. But the refurbished Leap V2 market is similarly deep. Certified refurbished units run $700 to $900.

FlexiSpot C7 at BF pricing ($250 to $270): not the same product category as an Aeron, but if ergonomic support at an honest price is the goal, the C7 covers adjustable lumbar, 3D armrests, and 10-year warranty at a fraction of the cost. Our best ergonomic chair under $500 guide covers the comparison.

Used Aeron from office liquidators during November and December: the January office-clearance cycle starts early in December. Large quantities of genuine Aerons come to market through office furniture liquidators at $300 to $500. These aren't refurbished (no warranty), but they're often in good condition from corporate offices that replace furniture on schedule.

When to buy Herman Miller

The honest answer is: buy when you're ready, not when the calendar says to.

Herman Miller products have a 12-year warranty and are designed to last 20+ years. The timing of your purchase within a 12-month window makes very little financial difference. If you're spending $1,400 on a chair you'll use for 15 years, saving $140 (10%) on BF vs buying in March costs you less than $10 per year of use.

If you want to time it at all, watch for the occasional 15% off event on Herman Miller's site (they run these a few times per year) or wait for a Crandall Office certified refurbished sale.

FAQ

Does Herman Miller have a Black Friday sale? Yes, but modestly. Expect 10 to 15% off select items, with the Aeron often receiving smaller discounts or none at all. The Sayl and Cosm tend to discount more consistently.

How much is the Aeron on Black Friday? Typically $1,250 to $1,345 during BF (10% off the standard $1,395). This is based on prior years. Confirmed pricing updates November 24, 2026.

Is Black Friday the best time to buy a Herman Miller chair? For most people, no. HM's BF discounts are modest.

The certified refurbished market offers larger price reductions year-round. If you're going new and the 10% helps, buy during BF. Otherwise don't wait.

Does Herman Miller offer free shipping on Black Friday? Herman Miller offers free shipping on most orders year-round. Free shipping isn't a BF-specific benefit.

Can I find a better deal on an Aeron somewhere else? Yes, through certified refurbishers. Crandall Office is the most commonly cited source for refurbished Aerons with warranties. Prices typically run $700 to $900 for a B-size chair in good condition.

Bottom line: Herman Miller Black Friday deals are real but modest. The Sayl and Cosm discount more reliably than the Aeron. If you're already decided on a new Aeron and the timing works, buy during BF.

If budget is the primary concern, the refurbished market is a better path than waiting for a sale. The BF discount alone won't make an Aeron affordable if it wasn't before.
